| is an exceptional horse. In his younger years he was extremely successful in the show ring, winning championships in conformation, trail, trail obstacle and versatility.
Even though very successful, Thunder did not physically or emotionally handle the traditional gaited horse training well. Upon retiring from the show circuit we reschooled him using dressage principles, teaching him to accept collection while remaining relaxed and balanced. His marvelous personality began to emerge and he literally became a new horse. Thunder has since been pictured in several magazines, including Trailblazer and USDF Connection, demonstrating a relaxed, collected gaited horse with a round back. Today on the farm he is our “go to” horse rather we are looking for a lead horse on the trails, a calm horse to pony the younger ones or just a light responsive great ride … Thunder’s our man.
